Denmark
is the smallest and most southerly Scandinavian country.
It includes the Jutland peninsula and some 500 islands,
although only 100 are inhabited. The two largest are Sjaelland
and Funen. The absence of mountains and the few hills
makes Denmark an ideal country for bicycle tours. Except
for the western and northern parts of Jutland, the natural
setting is both fertile and domesticated, and Denmark's
verdant landscape and idyllic villages will enchant visitors
in search of a gentle pace of life.
About
a quarter of the Danish population lives in the capital
Copenhagen, a warm and friendly city that reflects the
openhearted character of the Danish people. These "Nordic
Latins" are gifted with a sense of humour that
prevents them from taking themselves too seriously.
Their innate appreciation of beauty combined with a
strong dose of strong common sense has given the world
the famous Danish decorative style.
