Bali Keramik (Bali Ceramic):
Lovely, colorful broken pieces of ceramic tiles decorate the front yard and entrance, offering a glimpse into what awaits within the store. Inside, shelves display high-quality handmade ceramic products, ranging from ashtrays to soup bowls. Be careful not to knock over anything; the aisles are rather narrow. Despite its smallness, the shop draws regular streams of local tourists and wholesale buyers. The factory stands just behind, producing also for the international market.

Cobra Shop:
Located not far from the well-known Bemo Corner on the beach side of Jalan Legian, Cobra offers unique and unusual jewelry along with a small collection of interesting Indonesian artifacts. It specializes in necklaces of many designs, long or short strands with silver and semiprecious stone beads from many parts of Asia. Customers can also create their own designs from the selection of loose beads and include earrings to match. Choose from round or faceted lapis lazuli, carnelian, malachite, garnet and pearls to mix with a wide variety of silver beads, which Cobra will thread professionally for you.

Kuta Center:
Situated in the Tuban area where many distinguished hotels stand, the commodious Kuta Center provides endless shopping pleasure for tourists. This haven sells ethnic handicrafts of sorts, from masks and other woodcarvings to hand-woven textiles (ikat) and batik. Within the premises lies an art center, featuring a gallery (for contemporary and traditional art) and a studio where visitors can watch artists in action. A plethora of restaurants, including McDonald's and a buffet-style Japanese restaurant, provides much-needed respite after trotting around. Children find amusement at the playground.

Pasar Kumbasari (Kumbasari Market):
The four-story Pasar Kumbasari is situated at busy Jalan Gajah Mada, in the heart of Denpasar City. On the first level, you will find mostly native kitchen crafts made out of woven bamboo. The second floor carries a wealth of Balinese printed batik, Balinese and Javanese hand-woven textiles and various batik textiles at reasonable prices. The building houses mostly small kiosks, some selling handicrafts. Good bargaining can bring quality items with rock-bottom prices. Most local vendors in this traditional, non-air-conditioned market speak little English.

Wayan Mardika:
On the road parallel to the main road in Sukawati is a sign with a carved boar on it that says "Puppet maker Wayan Mardika". Go all the way to the back of this compound and you will find Mardika and his family at work making puppets. He can also perform a shadow-puppet performance for you where the clowns speak in English so one can easily follow the storyline.

Pasar Kembang (Flowers Market):
Along Jalan Sutoyo, a short segment situated in downtown Denpasar, several kiosks sell a kaleidoscope of fresh flowers. From petite hand bouquets to extravagant wreaths, flower arrangements can be designed to cater to weddings, opening ceremonies, birthdays and every imaginable occasion. One can also buy individual stalks from the selection on offer--roses, asters, carnations, indigenous flowers and many others. Place a special order if nothing from the existing stock fancies you.

Pasar Seni Sukawati (Sukawati Art Market):
Located at Gianyar, not far from Ubud Sukawati Market lies a hive of activity in Bali's fabric and craft center. Always busy, this traditional market contains a wonderful range of products to choose from. Many locals shop here, rummaging through the large variety of woven baskets, Balinese ceremonial items made from colorful gold-painted cloth known as prada, paintings and many handcrafted items. Just remember to bargain to get the best buys!

Ubud Market:
For bargain hunters and those wishing to experience something of Bali's tradition visit the Ubud Market--a great place to find souvenirs, clothing and a variety of interesting Balinese handicrafts. Purchase all types of items--from the traditional such as sarongs of cotton batik to toys and household items or hand-carved wooden animals and flowers. Get ready to play the bargaining game--a favorite tradition and past time of the locals--at this open-air, double-story market.

Bali Mall:
In this basic, no-frills mall you can find just about anything you might desire. While a good part of the mall comprises the Ramayana department store, it also contains a coffee shop, a food court with the Indonesian version of fast food. Playstation and computer stores, a video arcade, music store and Internet café will surely appeal to the young. Shop at the handicrafts marketplace or have your hair done at the hair salon. Other shops include mobile phone stores, a shoe shop, electronics shops and many others.

Galeria Nusa Dua:
Claiming to be Bali's biggest shopping center, with over 20 restaurants and 100 specialty stores, the Galeria caters to everyone's needs. It houses local and well-known brands, jewelry shops, handicrafts, and a supermarket along with shoe and sports stores. To satisfy those hunger pangs, choose from an ice cream shop, fast food or seafood restaurants. If you run out of cash, the ATMs will solve your problem. Legian Arcade:
Located along Kuta's narrow and busy Jalan Legian, this two-story shopping mall is a tourist haunt for souvenirs. It also presents many opportunities for regular shopping--m)phosis fashion boutique, Guardian pharmacy, Disc Tarra music outlet, Bata shoe store, Rembrandt gift shop, to name but a handful.

Diponegoro Shopping Center:
This shopping arcade is strategically situated in downtown Denpasar. Although the street fronting it, Jalan Diponegoro, becomes congested during lunchtime and busy hours, the mall possesses a large parking lot. Designed as a two-story house, it plays host to banks, boutiques of branded items, optical shops, a drugstore, electronic outlets and sundry shops. The reasonable prices attract even the locals. Take a short walk and you will come to supermarkets and more vendors.

Galeri Keris:
Offering a range of Indonesian handicrafts, clothes and stationery, Galeri Keris provides a great place to pick up quality souvenirs without the hassle of haggling over prices. You can also find clothes from well-known designers, toiletries and knick-knacks. For the traveler on the go, check out the compressed towels and sarongs in the shape of hockey pucks. Just add water and watch them grow to normal size.

Matahari Department Store:
With branches throughout Indonesia, including four in Bali, Matahari can definitely be considered one of the more popular department stores. Its success may be attributed to the reasonable prices and excellent range of menswear, womenswear, kidswear and household products. You will find all of the latest makeup, perfume and other toiletries along with local and name brand products. Most Matahari stores have a supermarket on the ground floor. Be on the look out for the Matahari in Denpasar and the three locations in Legian/Kuta.

Ramayana Department Store:
Located in the Bali Mall, this fully equipped, multi-leveled store offers everything, from a supermarket to a sports equipment department. The Ramayana contains all of the regular department store features, womenswear, menswear, kidswear, shoes and make-up at very affordable prices. Look for the regular sales and special-priced goods, usually located in the front of each department. The Ramayana also features a Factory Outlet section where you can find all of your favorite brands like Levi's, Gap, Esprit or Tommy Hilfiger.
